What Will Blog and Article Marketing Do for Your Business?

by on Sunday, March 4th, 2012

Lately google made some changes to their ranking algorithm,   in the name of providing more relevant search results for it’s users, on official google blog it is estimated 11.8% search results will be affected by this update, in plain English, google thinks about 12% of it’s search results are really bad and need to manipulated. The update was initiated more than a year ago, and recently I see some of my ranks were lowered considerably, but almost all the ranks promoted by articles and blog posts were not affected, a few of these keywords ranked better than ever, it’s almost a sure thing that plain link building loses all it’s attraction, at least in the eye of google.

Now what on earth is plain link building and how do people do it? a large percentage of SEO firms will do this,  they add your links to those linking websites without context, the only updates on those websites are the new links, it’s safe to assume all of them are trash, we call these sites link spamming sites. New google algorithm most likely will punish these link spammers,  the links on those spamming sites won’t work anymore.

Examples will be great for explanation. It was quite some time ago, I started promote the keyword, Laser Level, at that time almost every body was doing plain linking campaign, a lot of sites I used had too many links, and the worst thing is that those sites are linking sites only and had no content, not even crap content. I would give credit where credit is due, this linking strategy worked, eventually the keyword could be found on first page, the party was over when google updated it’s algorithm. Now let’s look at another keyword, chain pullers, most back links for this keyword are from articles and posts, with very few plain links, now we have really good ranking for this keyword. Old and outdated linking campaign lost to content linking, what’s next? In fact the only thing matters here is content, so if you create great content, your rank will improve over time, since search engines are another kind of readers. You probably think there are already too many blogs out there, it’s not true, there will never be too many good blogs, such as this interesting blog, best smartphones , I didn’t put too much effort into it from start, but I never stopped posting, you probably think this site won’t rank a all, much to my surprise that the site actually ranks for quite a few keywords. As far as SEO concerned, quality blog marketing is much better than plain link building. Say you’re building your own bogging network, for instance Hitch Ball, then it will be easier to do article marketing.

Bottom line is that you should create great content, publish and share with people, in the mean time advertise your business with your content, your effort will reward you handsomely in the end. Persistence and patience are the keys to success, long term strategy is required to improve anything of significance, i.e., selling online or improve your search rankings, now all we have to do is to give our love for creating and sharing quality content and not to worry about the search results all the time. When publisinh articles, I prefer ezine, google will index a new article on ezine promptly, popular blogs will get your post indexed as soon as you post it, here I am going to show you an article in article directory or on a blog, let’s look at this one, Tow Chain , quality content, nice presentation, indexed by google, this article is a good example of article marketing.

By the way, if you don’t take social media account, you’re lost. One thing you can do for your blogs is to install twitter tools, sign up for a twitter account and create a new application, link your blog to twitter, then make sure every new post will post a new tweet, it’s simple and elegant, if you don’t use this tool it’s just too bad.
