Yum Woon Sen (Thai Noodles Salad with Shrimp)

by on Thursday, June 28th, 2012

Summer in the US can be scorching hot, which can potentially strip your healthy appetite even though you’re hungry. In times like this, I like to make refreshing and light salads when I am not in the mood to have something heavy. Thai salads always fit the bill as the signature flavors of tart, spicy, sweet, and salty always set my mouth watering, for example: green papaya salad or som tam, and yum woon sen, cellophane noodles salad. Cellophane noodles, also known as glass noodles, mung bean noodles, tang hoon (in Malaysia & Singapore) are a type of Asian noodles made with mung beans. Unlike rice noodles, cellophane noodles have a smooth surface and mouth feel, springy in texture, and almost transparent (hence the name “glass” noodles) when cooked. Many of my favorite Thai dishes are made with this type of noodles, and one of them is yum woon sen. While you can easily get an order of yum woon sen at any Thai restaurants, I find homemade version so much more appetizing. First of all, I can have as many shrimp as I want in the noodle salad; secondly, I love chilling the salad before serving. On warm summer days when the temperature is baking hot, try this yum woon sen recipe. I am sure you will love the refreshing good taste of this classic Thai salad. You can even make a big batch and serve as a side for your next BBQ party. (Click Page 2 for the Yum Woon Sen (Thai Noodle Salad with Shrimp) Recipe)

Make Your Links Tell The Story: Blogging The Way Up

by on Tuesday, June 26th, 2012

When it comes search engines, google is still the king, and they are doing everything they can to maintain their lead,   in the hope of furnishing it’s search users better results, on official google blog it is estimated 11.8% search results will be affected by this update, in plain English, there are about 12% of google search results are considered low quality by google itself. The update was initiated more than a year ago, maybe that’s why some of my ranks dropped out of first 10 pages, the good thing is that those keywords promoted by content rich links are not affected, a few of these keywords ranked better than ever, it’s safe to say that old way of link building is doomed.

So what exactly is linking campaign the old way? a lot of marketing companies did and are doing the plain link building, they put your links on websites which only exist for holding links, the only updates on those websites are the new links, and most of them are useless, the name of link spamming sites is justified. Now google algorithm probably will weed out these sites, all the links on those websites will have the same fate.

Maybe a few examples will make it clear. When I got into online marketing long time ago, I needed to rank the keyword, http://www.mfrexpress.com/cargo-control-cam-buckle-strap-c-2_94.html, at that time almost every body was doing plain linking campaign, a lot of sites I used had too many links, worst yet, those sites had no content at all. In the beginning, the ranking of the keyword in question rise pretty fast, finally the rank improved a lot,   the honeymoon lasted until google changed it’s mind. Something opposite happened to this keyword, chain puller , we put the link in relevant context, with very few plain links, the rank for this keyword is making me real happy. Old and outdated linking campaign lost to content linking, what’s next? Actually this is all about content, as long as you dole out high quality content, your rank will improve over time, since search engines are another kind of readers. How do you do it? Writing articles and building blogs, take a look at this blog, top smartphone 2011 , I build it as a hobby and kept adding good or mediocre content, now it can even rank the highly competitive keywords. As far as SEO concerned, quality article marketing is much better than plain link building. If you can build a group of your own blogs, something like http://www.mfrexpress.com/cargo-control-tie-down-c-2_7.html, then it will be easier to do article marketing.

At the end of day all you have to do is to create attractive content, get people to enjoy and share your stuff, promote your business with the content, as long as you don’t stop doing this, you will win over customers and search engines. The virtues, persistence and patience, are essential for your success, you shouldn’t expect things to improve overnight, it doesn’t matter you’re doing SEO or advertising your business, keep writing, publishing, sharing and creating, you will see the day of success. One of the best articles directories is EzineArticle, new article will be indexed within an hour if not minutes, of course your posts on some blogs will be indexed real fast as well, let look at some aticles or posts which are published and indexed, let’s look at this one, Lift Sling , quality content, nice presentation, indexed by google, this article is a good example of article marketing.

We’re not finished yet, please remeber, if you don’t take social media account, you’re lost. For wordpress blogs, I recommend twitter tools, then go ahead register a new twitter account and app, configure your twitter tools prpperly, then make sure every new post will post a new tweet, it’s easy and really useful, if you don’t use this tool it’s just too bad.

Korean Kalbi Taco

by on Tuesday, June 26th, 2012

If you live in the Los Angeles area, I am sure you have heard of Kogi food truck and its famed Kogi taco. Kogi tacos pretty much launched the food truck culture and craze in the United States. For the longest time, I have wanted to share the recipe here and finally I got to do it over the weekend. I had Kogi taco once. The food truck comes to the Orange County area from time to time and I was lucky to have tried it. I remember the line was as long as the Space Mountain ride at Disneyland as eager diners waited patiently for their turn to place the order. I thought the tacos were delicious but I was mostly impatient with the long wait. Kogi taco is basically Korean Kalbi taco, so I decided to create a similar recipe and share it with you. I personally like my creation (Mr. Rasa Malaysia gave his thumbs up). For the Kalbi, I referred to the guest post from Diana at Eating Richly. I might be biased but the end result was a lot more refreshing than Kogi taco. I opted out the salsa in Kogi’s and serve it with diced tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro. Plus, the seasoned Romaine lettuce and the tangy dressing with a lemony note complement the tastes very well. If you are making Korean Kalbi this summer, do save up a few pieces of the Kalbi and make them into this Korean Kalbi tacos. I am sure the delightful flavor will entice your taste buds!
